Two Presbyterian Womens' groups meet regularly for Bible-based studies. Opportunities for service, learning and friendship can be found in either the more structured day circle or the casual evening circle. (See the event schedule for dates and times for either group.)
Our two circles support local and regional benevolence programs such as Casa Hogar, Tuesday School, and the Christmas Giving Tree, as well as wider-based benevolences. Often, in times of need, meals are provided and served by dozens of loving hands.
We welcome you to become only as involved as your own time and energy permits. But, be warned: Become involved with these busy ladies, and you might redefine what "time" really means.
The Adults, led by Matt Miles, are currently (spring 2008) discussing "BIBLE 101" in preparation for a longer, extensive study beginning in the fall. Class begins at 10; coffee is usually brewed by 9:45. An exciting rotational pattern children's program will begin in September 2008.
We Fort Davis Texas Presbyterians come from all around. Some of us live in town. Some of us live on ranches tucked into remote mountain canyons. Some of us ive in distant cities and only attend on our too-infrequent visits to this place where life seems simpler and God, closer.
We are very young, and we are very old, and we are every age in between. We grow apples and we raise cattle. We gaze through giant telescopes at star-fuzzy galaxies brilliant in the darkest skies in North America. We make dolls, we bake bread, we run museums and hotels. We wait on tourists, we open our arms to far-flung family members who return here to replenish their spirits. We are educators, pilots, bankers, musicians, artists, cowboys. We are followers of Christ, and in that, we find great joy.
We are tall, short, plump, skinny as the prickly cholla that waves its multi-branched arms to all who travel this high desert. We worship together, we work together, and we play together. Diverse as we are, we have no one among us as unique as you.
Come. Join us. Laughter is served up with the peach cobbler and spiritual growth often as not occurs over coffee. Come on in, and make yourself at home: Chances are, soon, you will be.
