Matt's Musings:
Wonderings & Wanderings of a Country Pastor

We welcome everyone to worship with us any time. It is our sincere hope and prayer that you will take our church and make it your own.

We know that it is often uncomfortable to visit a church for the first time and we promise to do everything we can to make your visit as pleasant as possible.

Should you choose to become a member of our congregation, please come to see me or any of our elders. We would love to have you. However, if you are not yet comfortable with membership, we invite you to continue worshiping with us as long as you wish.

You will find, in our church, friendly people of all ages at many different places along the path of their faith journey. We will not claim to have the answers for you but will certainly walk with you as you live with the questions. We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and understand ourselves to be a nationwide church that is involved in Christ's work throughout the world. We also understand that we are only a small part of the church universal. We welcome all people from all churches and especially those who have never been to church to come and celebrate the grace of Jesus Christ with us.

If you have any questions, we invite you to ask them. If you have suggestions, we invite you to share them. If you have fears, we invite you to pray with us. No matter who you are or where you come from, we invite you to be the church with us.

Welcome!

A WILDFIRE OF HISTORIC PROPORTIONS SWEEPS JEFF DAVIS COUNTY

Many of you wonder what you can do to help the many Fort Davis families who have lost their homes, livestock, property to this vast, destructive fire. Although immediate needs of food, clothing and shelter are being met by churches, neighbors and the community, the losses are almost overwhelming.
In addition to your prayers, money is the most urgent need now. A relief fund has been established at our local bank, thanks in part to several of our own church members. Money donated to this fund directly assists our own neighbors in whatever special ways. (Needs range from milk for children to feed and fencing wire for cattle and gas for trucks. Homes, vehicles, grasslands are blackened, and for many, their way of life has been threatened by the hopefully temporary loss of tourism.)

Please donate to JEFFDAVISCOUNTYRELIEF.ORG online

or by mailing a check payable to Jeff Davis County Relief Fund to:
Fort Davis State Bank

And if you are a regular visitor to our area and to our church, please come see us. We're still here, as are all the things you most love about Fort Davis. We need your prayers, your presence and your hugs.

HOW YOU GET HERE, once you're in Fort Davis:
We're the historic white adobe church steepled against the bluff by the old fort on the northeast side of our tiny town.  You don't really need a map to find us.  The road is dirt, the rocks are rugged and the sky is big. We're inside, waiting to welcome you.
