Native Americans occupied this land long before Sixteenth Century Spanish explorers named it El Desplobado, the Unexplored. Travel the unpaved street to the church today and it isn't that hard to imagine soldiers manning the old frontier fort just around the corner on the other side of Sleeping Lion Mountain. Drive the Davis Mountain Scenic Loop (Hwy 166) and you'll wind through rocky pastures originally settled by hardy ranchers whose descendents occupy our pews each Sunday. Modern Fort Davis is a community rooted in history and anchored in Christ.
